JuJutsu Kaisen: Execution is not entirely an original film. Rather, the recent movie from the JuJutsu Kaisen supernatural series serves as a collection of the show's sophomore season combined with the first two episodes of its next season, which launches the Culling Games storyline from the source material. This makes Execution, which just got a new trailer, the first way to see the start of the upcoming season ahead of its January 2026 premiere. The movie premieres in Japan on Nov. 7, and in the United States and Canada on December 5.

The Culling Games Storyline

In the Culling Games storyline, Top-tier jujutsu user Yuta Okkotsu finally joins the show and is assigned by sorcery authorities to eliminate his peer Yuji Itadori. Their highly anticipated battle occurs for the initial time on the silver screen, and if the animation team at the studio have something as special as episodes 40 and 41 in store for fans this end-of-year period, JuJutsu Kaisen: Execution may turn out to be the present that we've been waiting for.

The Thunderclap Debate

"Thunderclap" from season two is widely regarded as a top-tier scene in the history of anime, in spite of all the controversy in last year when the series first premiered. It was stated that the animation team were enduring harsh deadlines to the point, and the final version that aired at the time was unfinished and allegedly not what the animators originally planned.

The Legendary Fight

The episode showcases a heavily anticipated fight between two powerful sorcerers, the King of Curses and the Eight-Handled Sword. It includes unique visual techniques, masterful camera work, and intense action. A follow-up physical media version provided an opportunity to insert new moments to flesh out the conflict. So it was plausible Execution could enhance the fight further. However, viewing the latest preview, it's hard to tell if that fight has undergone further polishing. It'd be a disappointment if it hadn't, because a scene of that magnitude has to be watched on the largest display with the best presentation possible.

The Second Season's Triumph

The second season of JuJutsu Kaisen propelled the series to become the top anime of the year, and when episodes 40 and 41 were premiered one after another, it was the topic of conversation for weeks in the anime community. Audiences knew about the problems with the production, which made them appreciate what they saw even more. People eagerly awaited to see if the disc version, released on March 18, would include new footage to the fight or to see if it was polished at all, and were overjoyed to see just that, alongside color corrections, enhanced animation, and revised visual style.

The Feature's Advantage

But the home video can only touch up what has already been presented in the television version, whereas the cinematic experience has the opportunity to do the sequence justice with additional alterations and completely new animated sequences.

A Masterpiece

As it stands, these two episodes represent the masterpiece of JuJutsu Kaisen, and should be treated as such by Mappa, particularly given the issues they underwent at the time. It's drawn the focus of viewers all over the world, and the Culling Games arc is one of the most anticipated anime arcs of the following year. If the studio wants to start the year off right, run back the anime's greatest sequence once again in movie houses with the ultimate presentation we've experienced so far.
