Recent details have emerged about the untimely demises of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their residence property on Sunday.

The Initial Report

According to a report quoting a family associate, a therapist scheduled for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after not being able to enter the house. The therapist then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.

Upon entering the home, Romy found her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Another individual who had gone with her promptly called 911. Subsequently, paramedics found Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Developments

Law enforcement have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of first-degree murder, including the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently in custody and denied bail.

Clarifications

The person close to the family challenged several initial details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a separate structure on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that moment.

Additionally disputed widely reported claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "worried" about Nick's conduct in recent weeks. Instead the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This correction also extends to reports of alleged "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a gathering held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. While the source said they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that reports of a "blow-up" between the two were inaccurate.

Investigation Timeline

According to law enforcement sources, the coroner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts suggested the condition of their bodies implied they had been deceased for a period of time.

Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the residence. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his legal counsel, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would not be present until no sooner than Wednesday.
