Ex- Doctor Charged with Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- physician stands accused of carrying out assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were patients.
Details of the Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
A senior prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
